I am a sunburst
I am luminary
I am rings around the sun in a sheet of high clouds
I am solophacted lightfall
The air is my violent cradle. It snatches my clothes and rushes the spaces between my ribs. It collides with my eyelids and palms and ankles and inner elbows. It turns my buttons cold. If I rearrange my limbs the cacophony of the rush turns to music. So I embellish the luxury of space.
I am a holonesic mantra
Naked contortionists repeat me in ecstasy
I am their cascade of assonance
I am a tapestry of association
I am flowers outflaming the ground far below me
The world is around me and against me and in me. I laugh in boneless exultation and my laughter falls upward. The whole big world carries me as I drop.
My hand lifts of its own accord and waves to those below. Those people who turn their sunflower-faces up at me from the fields and sidewalks and from beneath the trees, I love them. Those people, they tell me how the world is, how gravity holds them down. Is it the same world I am falling through? Is it the same one where they crawl on the ground?
It’s not that I don’t care
I just
I feel so good
I am brilliance
I fling jingle-money from my fingertips flashing and falling all around me
No one cares about it
Those people, I love them. I will wrap my arms around them. I will sing and dance with them. I will memorize how they smell when they’ve just washed their hands. I will revel in the way the collars of their shirts rest against the suncatcher hairs on the back of their necks.
They tell me I am bound to fall, which I am
I am unbound
I am an ecstatic freefall from precarious height
I am my pulse hammering out to my fingertips
I am breath rising my ribs to my outline, sucking in the air the world offers to me for free
I am my own gorgeous harmony
I am endlessly repeating broken chords of joy and molotopsia
I am eliberant
All the better to dance to the mantra
Except where am I going?
I am falling so fast that the surface of the planet races to keep up with me
up to me
I’m not scared
I’m not scared of no things
The ground is my future’s problem
I skydive home
